The New York Times

 

The assignment was to create a series of ads to celebrate Poem In Your Pocket Day, part of National Poetry Week. (Yep, there's a National Poetry Week.) Rather than tell readers about the power of poetry, we wanted them to feel it, through both the writing in the ads, as well as the illustration. Results: Many, many requests for reprints, particularly from English teachers, and a Bronze Athena Award.
