In 2008, The Wall Street Journal engaged us to help develop a new brand campaign. The challenge: highlight the increased range of topics, as well as an increasingly international focus, while maintaining its highly intelligent, leadership tone.

In 2011, we were once again working with The Wall Street Journal. This time, the assignment was a little different. Our task: re-imagine The Wall Street Journal as a start-up newspaper, with a scrappier, bolder approach to attract a younger audience, without alienating the existing audience.

While working at Lowe, Lintas and Partners in London, we were given the interesting task of creating a brand campaign for Braun, but one that could work equally well across various product lines. The campaign we developed remains one of my favorites to this day.

I have a simple theory on social posts, and that's people engage with and share things that they find interesting. And particularly on mobile platforms, you have about a micro-second to capture someone's attention. This series for Crest Sensitivity toothpaste not only achieved one of our highest engagement rates, it was featured by Facebook itself in creative presentations as an example of great creative work that stood out in the newsfeed.

Simple, bold and unusual, this Glide floss mini-campaign on Facebook achieved one of our highest engagement rates to date, particularly when it came to sharing. As a result of its success, and low budget, we pooled the campaign out into Facebook video and Vines.

Western Europe is the most advanced market for power brushes in the world. So to gain an advantage there, Oral-B challenged us to develop something breakthrough, distinctive and uniquely Oral-B. The result of that challenge was an integrated campaign, anchored by a tv spot called Circle. Using 120 modern dancers and the choreography team behind De La Guarda and Fuerza Bruta, the commercial was a beautiful metaphor for the motions of the Oral-B power brush. Originally intended as a single spot, it evolved into a campaign that's continued help deliver outstanding business results, four years in a row and counting. As of 2014, Oral-B Power Brushes are the best selling power brushes in Western Europe and the Bristle People campaign has been picked up by over a dozen countries around the world.

The key to any effort is knowing your audience. In the case of Crest's Facebook fan base, it's predominantly women, who seem to really enjoy positive, emotional messages. This mini-campaign tapped into that sense of optimism and continues to be one of our strongest performing efforts.
